Warzone's MW4 Era: Hajin Map, Vondel's Return and a Zipline Launcher Confirmed
Warzone's jump into the Modern Warfare 4 era now has a clear shape. In episode 2 of The Ward Room, released October 14 with Raven Software and Beenox on the mic, Infinity Ward walked through what changes when the integration lands with Season 1 on November 6, 2026: a brand-new big map called Hajin, a perk-free Tactical Sprint, new squad gadgets, and a confirmed return for Vondel in Season 2. Here's the rundown, with each detail checked against Dot Esports and Gamelevate, who both recapped the episode.
Hajin: the new big map
Hajin is the headline. Dot Esports reports that it's set in a fictional region close to where North Korea, South Korea and Russia meet, and it doubles as the map for MW4's DMZ mode. Infinity Ward has already toured it in the official DMZ deep dive, and we broke down how DMZ plays there in our Bounties and Wanted explainer.
For Battle Royale, the developers highlighted two things, per Gamelevate:
- Foliage between POIs, so rotating on foot isn't a sprint across bare open ground.
- Weather variations meant to make one match feel different from the next.
The Season 1 map pool
Hajin won't replace Verdansk. Both will run as big maps in Season 1, while Rebirth Island and Zodiac cover Resurgence, giving Warzone two large maps and two small ones at launch, according to Dot Esports.
Zodiac, Beenox's Resurgence map from the beta, is getting a visibility pass: reworked interior lighting, clearer landmarks, and less vegetation and visual clutter, Gamelevate notes. In practice, that should make it harder to hide in dark rooms.
Vondel isn't in the day-one lineup, but it's coming back in Season 2, which Pro-Gamer places in early 2027.
Tactical Sprint is officially back
On October 13 we covered CharlieIntel's report that Tac Sprint would return by default. The Ward Room has now made it official: Tactical Sprint returns with no perk required. There's a catch, though. Dot Esports says the burst will be shorter than before, so it's for quick moves, not long dashes across open fields.
New gear and interactive objects
The integration also adds new ways to move and fight, per Gamelevate:
- Zipline Launcher: deploy a line the whole squad can ride up to rooftops, which opens up new flanking routes.
- Grabber Drone: picks up loot, fetches Buy Station purchases and can even carry players, who can shoot while airborne.
- Interactive objects: pushable cover, ramps and movable concrete wheels.
- Revive drag: you can pull a downed teammate into cover while reviving them.
Dot Esports adds that the HUD is being slimmed down (squad portraits removed, kill feed back in its old spot), footstep audio is getting clearer, and a new Grinding for Royalty system will reward personal targets like kills, damage, placement and win streaks.
